Acting Coaching
Joseph J. Pearlman is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He has been coaching actors in the classroom, privately and on film sets for over twelve years.
In his private coaching sessions and classes Joseph helps his clients/students find the specific "HOOK" of their character while giving them practicable tools for success and confidence onstage and in front of the camera. He teaches his students to "EFFECT CHANGE" while speaking and acting with a sense of remarkable ease and confidence. Joseph asks his students to talk to the "EYES" of their audience not their "EARS" or intellect. To "SHOW" rather than "TELL". He will help you to seamlessly connect the action of "really talking and really listening" to "acting" the scene.
The whole point of any acting training or coaching is to teach you how to enter a scene emotionally full. It is painful to watch an actor or actress enter a scene cold and have to warm up on-stage or on-set after the call of "action". Joseph will give you practicable and specific tools to enter a scene "emotionally full" when the director calls "Action!". Most classroom training and acting "technique" has nothing to do with what it's actually like to act in front of a live audience or on a film set; it prepares you to act in a classroom for the purpose of pleasing the teacher! Your training should be about YOU learning how to act for a real paying audience and not about the teacher.
Joseph Pearlman's approach is based on a technique developed by the late Jeff Corey (personal coach of John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg, Robin Williams, Sean Penn and many others). Joseph trained and coached with Jeff Corey during the final years of his life.
Joseph Pearlman coaches Hollywood celebrities, singer/songwriters, comedians and beginning actors working in theater, film and television. He also works with politicians, lawyers and business professionals worldwide to help them effect change in their audiences.
Some of Joseph's clients include: Zooey Deschanel (Yes Man, 500 Days Of Summer), Sherri Sheperd (The View, 30 Rock), Suzie Suh (Singer/Songwriter, soundtrack to Must Love Dogs and One Tree Hill), Holly Brook (Singer/Songwriter, Band-Fort Minor) and many others.
Executive Coaching
Joseph J. Pearlman is a master speaking and presentation coach. He helps people to deliver a message that reflects their mission and goals. If you can't deliver clearly you can't convince others of the importance of your message. Joseph dramatically improve his client's performance skills, "HOW" they do what they do. He teaches his clients to "talk to the eyes" of their audience instead of just their ears, or intellect. To paint a picture while speaking and to "show" rather than tell.
Joseph's clients learn to be dynamic and interesting so they may effect change in their audience. We all know what it's like to listen to someone who is absolutely boring! They can't tell a simple story or joke without including a maze of personal anecdotes and side stories that inevitably destroy the punchline.
Joseph gives his clients practicable tools to boldly, and with great confidence, deliver their speeches and presentations before a live audience. They are then able to captivate and hold the audience's attention until the final word of the speech. He teaches his clients to "leave a tip" every time they speak. To "leave a tip" is to impart a piece of your personality upon your audience. Something they can take home with them and remember you by. A part of you!
How many truly great speeches can you remember in your life? Most speakers don't "leave a tip"; they don't impart anything remarkable or memorable on their audience. An audience craves something they can pocket and bring with them. Joseph teaches his clients to magnify and project their unique personalities into their speeches and presentations.
Joseph works with celebrities, politicians, non-profit organizations, CEO's, corporate executives, lawyers and other business professionals to help them effect change in their audiences. He coaches Hollywood celebrities for presenting at award ceremonies like the Oscar Awards, Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards. He also coaches Hollywood actors on-set for their film roles, recording artists in studio and concert musicians for live performance.
